This popular style of relaxation therapy is commonly used in a 60 minute full body massage. Long, gliding strokes in the direction of blood flow toward the heart, increase circulation and oxygen levels in the blood while detoxifying muscles and relieving tension. Recent studies have found that 45 minutes of massage decreased levels of stress hormone cortisol in the body and also increased the number of lymphocytes (immune cells). Swedish style massage includes many “basic†techniques which are interspersed with just about every other style of massage practiced.   Perfect for relaxing after a long day or as preventative therapy once a  week.
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress & tension during your busy day. Â You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair that is SO comfy most clients don't want to get up afterwards! In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing making this ideal for quick visits before or after your workout! Sessions last from 15-20 minutes, come as you are, SWEAT DOESN'T BOTHER ME!!
This no nonsense style of massage benefits ANYONE who participates in regular physical activity- which could mean a weekend jogger, recreational tennis player, even a professional athlete. The technique is specific to the client’s sport/workout of choice and can be performed prior to, during, or immediately following a workout or sporting performance. Benefits include- warming/preparing muscles, maintaining mental focus during sports, increasing range of motion, injury prevention, detoxifying & recovering muscles as well as relieving pain
. These sessions typically last from 15 to 30 minutes & may be provided on massage chair or table.
Deep Tissue Massage
This unique therapy focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas. Its purpose is to release chronic muscle tension due to misalignment, repetitive motions or past lingering injuries.  This is accomplished through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure across the grain of the muscle fibers while breaking up and eliminating scar tissue.  This therapy has been found to decrease heart rate while increasing endorphins (“feel good†hormones).  Because deep tissue massage uses such specifically focused, deep pressure, it may cause some soreness during or right after session. Not recommended prior to exercise & sufficient hydration after session helps flush toxins released from deeper tissues during therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q- Do I have to be a member of Beechmont Racquet & Fitness to receive massage at Sarah's Sports Massage?
A- No, I can take anyone for massage. Non-members must make an appointment to come in so they can be announced to the front desk staff.
Q- Am I required to remove my clothing to receive a massage?
A- No, I can work around or through clothing to provide massage. You're welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to the appointment. Your comfort is my #1 priority!
Q- Should I get massage before or after my workout?
A- My advice is to try doing both & see which you prefer. Some like the 'warm up' effect of the pre-workout massage while others enjoy the 'restorative' benefits of post-workout therapy.
“Sarah Martin is the best! I have very little experience with Sports Massage, but when my son called me from a high school lifting session with a neck injury, I knew she would be a great resource. Not only did she fit us into her busy schedule right away, but Sarah eased our minds with her comforting ways and knowledge of her business. She definitely helped get Willie back on track and pain free and it was very much appreciated by this football mom! We’ll be seeing her again, for sure–when his 14th birthday rolled around, my son wanted a gift certificate to Sarah’s Sports Massage! â€
"I can't tell you how awesome my day was after that massage. I felt more free during my bball game later that day. My energy levels were up. If you remember, it was my first massage. Well, I'll DEFINITELY be back for another." -Joey D
Although I charge a fee for events and parties, I also enjoy giving back to the community by volunteering my services to help those in need.
If you are hosting an upcoming function such as; benefit to raise funds for medical expenses, event to benefit the homeless, the elderly, veterans/firefighters/law enforcement, sporting event or any type of fundraiser, please contact me to discuss a volunteer opportunity to compliment your event and promote well being to all.
